Experience: Minimum 2 years as Master
Job Description
• To always protect the safety of the vessel, its crew, any other passengers, and cargo.
• Manage the operations of the vessels and day to day activities onboard.
• Promote safe working practices and procedures among crews with the objective of preventing personal injuries.
• To maintain discipline onboard.
• Ensure a high standard of communication within the vessel and between vessel and shore.
• Review the Company SMS.
• Ensure the SMS is kept up to date by liaising with the DPA to arrange audits.
• Ensure all relevant SMS records are up-to-date, complete and available.
• Report defects to the Company and other matters with implications for safe operations or pollution risk, even if the defects can be rectified by ship crew.
• Review and report non-conformities, accidents involving staff or plant and hazardous situations to the Company.
• Request assistance from the Company if necessary to ensure safe and pollution free operation of the vessel.
• To ensure the successful execution of the voyage.
• To ensure the vessel’s certificates are valid.
• To maintain and update charts and publication.
• Exercise good seamanship whilst navigating and/or manoeuvring.
• To familiarise himself with all aspects of the vessel and its equipment.
• To ensure compliance with local and international maritime law and regulations.
• Ensures that watch keeping is maintained at all times.
• Manage emergency situations onboard the vessel.
• To take overall charge in emergencies.
• Together with the Chief Engineer, ensure that the vessel is maintained to a satisfactory operational standard.
• To execute any other instructions given by the owner/charterer.
• To record inventory of shipboard equipment.
• To verify and assess crew are competent to carry out their assigned task.
• Ensure timely request of provision and systematic storing of provisions.
